Where does the name Siisurit come from?
The name Siisurit consists of three elements intended to express the purpose and goals of our company:
Sisu
"Sisu" is a word from the Finnish language with no real equivalent in the English language and roughly describes "extraordinary determination in the face of extreme adversity, and courage that is presented typically in situations where success is unlikely." (Source: Wikipedia)
This trait is helpful to cope with situations that commonly arise when working on projects and contracts. Our products aim to support our customers in developing their sisu.
ii
The two i's represent two persons collaborating. Experience suggests that this increases the change of a project to succeed.
Our products are intended to facilitate this collaboration by provided facts that allow informed decisions. This reduces the need to make emotions the driving force of decisions.
rit
"-rit" is a German suffix used by certain minerals, in particular Ledeburit (English spelling: Ledeburite):
Ledeburite is not a type of steel that was discovered in 1882 by Karl Heinrich Adolf Ledebur, after whom it is named.
While it is a common material, few people know about it.
This is somewhat comparably to the many unknown people that make projects successful by applying their skills, learning from mistakes and helping others grow. The are the intended users of our products.
